Angola

SIM Angola partners with churches to make disciples of Christ in communities where He is least known through diverse ministries, with a focus on training and mentoring individuals and groups in a culturally, linguistically and economically diverse environment.

Our vision

The vision of SIM Angola is to see a witness to Christ's love where he is least-known in Angola, disciples of Jesus expressing God's love in their communities, and Christ-centred churches in Angola serving their communities and reaching out with the gospel locally and globally.

Communities where Christ is least known

Ovangambwe

The Ovangambwe is a sub-group of VaNyaneka live in southwestern Angola. Their lives revolve around keeping cattle. They have been resistant to the gospel, especially the elders who say they are too old and set in their ways to change. One church and three preaching points are established among this people group.

Ovamwila

The Ovamwila who are also a sub-group of VaNyaneka, live just south of Lubango, Angola. They are largely rural subsistence farmers and often live fairly remotely. In recent years, many have come to Christ; however, the majority have not heard the good news. A Bible is in very early stages of translation.

MuCubal and Muhimba

Living in the southwestern region of Angola, the majority of MuCubal and Muhimba live without the gospel. They are semi-nomadic and breed cattle and goats. The region in which they live is often wrought with drought and hardship. An effort is underway to send medical personnel to this region.
