Theological and Medical Training
In Botswana, theological and medical training are both areas where mission workers can help to support existing structures, bringing valuable Christian understanding and knowledge.
Theological Training
In 2021, discussion with the Africa Evangelical Church bishop led to the idea of establishing a Bible week for church leaders who had not had the privilege of going to Bible school, and as a refresher for others.
In 2022, the week of 30th May to June 3rd found 4 faculty (Motswana, Zulu, Zimbabwean and British) leading a series of topics on bible exposition, pastoral care, health and the church and children’s ministry. The great success of this has led to the planning of further refresher weeks for 2023 and has ignited the vision of re-opening a multi-denominational Bible school.
Medical Training
Botswana has an extensive government health care system and a relatively young university medical school, with several Christians working in both.
The university has need for some specialities in the teaching faculty and also opportunity for visiting specialist lecturers to contribute. Some retiring professors from other countries have taken positions in the university to fill the gaps.
Christian Medical Fellowship has been active in the student body but has not really managed to keep a fellowship going in the graduate population. We would like to see such a fellowship established
SIM is also seeking to develop a relationship with the Ministry of Health in Botswana to identify situations where mission personnel could fill vacant medical posts, especially in rural areas.

We are looking for someone who can draw our teams together and lead the process of re-establishing a Bible school. This would include attention to the areas of constitution, faculty, registration, curriculum, funding of structural renovation, etc.

'Highest Honour' and 'S.H.I.N.E. Africa' desire to fill the current gap in training and materials that can bring deep heart-transforming biblical discipleship in African shame-oriented contexts.
Mobilisation and Evangelism
In order to take the message of Christ to the least-reached in Botswana and around the world, we are currently focusing on the mobilisation of local Christians for mission work, evangelism to Asian expatriate workers, and the establishment of a Christian resource centre.
