Medical and Social Work
Les ministères médicaux ont fait partie des premiers ministères de la SIM. C’est ainsi qu’en 1947 et 1954, des dispensaires ont été ouverts respectivement à Piéla et à Mahadaga, qui sont aujourd'hui des centres médicaux. Il ont d’abord dû gagner la confiance des populations avec leurs techniques de soins (médicaments, pansements…) si différentes des techniques des féticheurs. Petit à petit, ils ont gagné leur confiance et aujourd'hui, ces deux dispensaires sont des centres médicaux (CM), avec des maternités, des pharmacies… Des médecins ont également rejoint l’équipe. La plupart des patients peuvent payer leurs frais médicaux ; cependant, certains des patients les plus pauvres ne le peuvent pas, et les CM leur paie leurs soins. Autrement, ces personnes ne viendraient même pas jusqu’au centre et laisseraient la maladie les gagner.
En plus des CM, deux centres handicapés ont vu le jour, d’abord à Mahadaga en 1987 (Centre Handicapés en Avant), puis à Fada N'Gourma (Centre Espoir) en 2015. Crées par la missionnaire française Françoise Pédeau pour répondre aux besoins de nombreuses personnes en situation de handicap aux alentours de ces villes, les deux centres cherchent ces personnes, les accueillent, leur proposent des soins médicaux et de rééducation. Le centre de Mahadaga abrite également une école intégratrice pour les enfants aveugles et sourds, afin qu’ils puissent suivre une scolarité comme les autres, et s‘intégrer à la communauté. Une fois leur cursus fini, les jeunes peuvent apprendre un métier, tel que tailleur par exemple. Vous pouvez retrouver le CHA sur Facebook.
Ces différents centres sont des occasions de partager l’Evangile de manière efficace, en répondant d’abord aux besoins physiques pour pouvoir parler de leur condition spirituelle.
