Jane finds support while raising awareness

#HowWillTheyHear is an initiative that several Christian organisations across Europe and the Middle East began in order to share the gospel in the midst of the refugee crisis.
Their upcoming campaign, 10:14, will dedicate 10 minutes during the next 14 days to pray over refugee ministries. Since the initiative focuses on mobilisation, asking God to provide more workers is an essential element of the initiative.
Why pray for refugees?
Beginning in 2015, Europe and the Middle East have hosted millions of men, women and children whose home countries were no longer safe to live in.
Political conflict, hardships, violence and persecution forced people to plead for shelter. These displaced people have experienced a range of difficulties, from dangerous travels to the immense emotional toll of discrimination.
#HowWillTheyHear’s digital coordinator Joanne said: “Matt 25:31-46… indicates that as we serve refugees or migrants, we are actually serving Jesus.”
As Joanne makes clear, hospitality toward migrants and refugees is a foundational Christian principle. The campaign seeks to respond to this calling and bring light into the chaos.
Whether they are refugees, migrants or asylum seekers, displaced people can be comforted by the hope of new life in Jesus Christ. The restoration God promises through repentance and forgiveness can transform lives that are steeped in turbulence and desperation.

What does 10:14 mean?
The prayer campaign is based on Romans 10:14: “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
#HowWillTheyHear starts their campaign on the 14th of October. The campaign carries the same urgency as the theme verse – people don’t know Jesus and have yet to be told about him.
10:14 also echoes the message of the following verse in Romans 10, which exclaims: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” The #HowWillTheyHear team and supporters ask God to send more who are willing to welcome displaced people into their physical community and into the family of God.
