In partnership with churches and organisations, we make disciples of Jesus Christ by engaging communities of Muslim faith and communities of migrants, among whom He is the least known. We also mobilise and equip Filipinos for cross-cultural ministry.

Communities where Christ is least known

Muslim Peoples in Southern Philippines

Islam is the second largest religion in the country, with about 5.1 million followers as of 2010 (according to the National Statistics Office). There are 14 Muslim groups in the Philippines, all originating from Mindanao. Each has a unique culture, but all share the same faith mixed with animistic practices. For years they have been fighting for their autonomy from the Philippine  government. Failure of peace talks in the past have resulted in armed conflict, causing death and displacement of people.

Pray that the ongoing peace talks will lead to a peaceful ceasefire. Pray that through the creative ministries of SIM Philippines and other partners, more Muslim peoples will come to know the Prince of Peace.

Migrant Muslim peoples

The establishment of the Islamic Center in 1964 spurred a number of mosques to be built and Muslim communities to blossom around these centres in Manila. The increase in the number of Muslims migrating to Manila and other cities was primarily to flee from the continued armed conflict in Mindanao. Others came to seek better lives through employment, business, and studies. In partnership with like-minded organisations and churches, SIM Philippines has been serving in five urban communities in Metro Manila and a community outside of Manila, ministering through children, youth and livelihood ministries.

Prayers

Pray for disciple-making efforts and the fellowship of Muslim background believers. Pray that these believers grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
