MK education

Do you like working with children and teenagers? We are looking for qualified school teachers, as well as those who could work in auxiliary roles such as dorm parenting, finance and admin, to enable families from SIM and likeminded organisations to stay on the field, knowing that their children's educational needs can be met. We place staff and interns at Dakar Academy (https://www.dakar-academy.org), and may also have opportunities for homeschool teachers. Dakar Academy has a Christian ethos, but welcomes children from all backgrounds, so there are opportunities both to disciple those from Christian families and also to share the good news with those who haven't heard.

Our patients are usually open to prayer and there are opportunities to share gospel truths in response to their needs. We are also looking for those who can help local staff with professional development.

We are especially looking for someone to teach English as an additional language, but also have opportunities to give vocational training in all kinds of other areas: cookery, sewing, computer, etc. Do you have a unique skill? The centre extends beyond teaching and provides a place where young people can read, study or simply relax with friends in a homey environment, giving an excellent opportunity to build relationships through which the good news can be shared.

Equipping the Church for Mission through Business as Mission.

Many Christian traders, employees and entrepreneurs do not know their daily work matters to God. They are his ambassadors for Christ in and through their work, Genesis 1:28, 2:15, Matthew 25:14-30, and Matthew 28:18-20. Our ministry aims to train and mentor this 'missing' frontline army of God in the northern regions of Ghana that God values them and that their daily work is to worship him and is missional.

Outreach and discipleship - Dagomba, Sisaala and Fulani.

Dependent on the Holy Spirit through prayer, SIM Ghana workers engage with these three focus peoples in love, working together with our Ghanaian brothers and sisters, to share the good news of God in both word and deed, in the language of the peoples and in culturally relevant ways. We work together to disciple those who come to faith, towards a growing, vibrant and transforming relationship with Jesus through their integration into Christ centred churches, or in fellowship together in ways that celebrate God within the communities He has placed them. Our desire is to work with the peoples to identify the giftings God has given them to be all that He created them to be and to work together for the physical, spiritual and emotional flourishing of the people.

Children At Risk Network

Despite the many ongoing efforts by many organizations and individuals to respond to needs of vulnerable children and families, there is not much to show. Many of the ministries responding to these needs are lacking in best practices and therefore not very effective or efficient. Many are working in isolation struggling to find resources to do the work. Greater unity, sensitization, equipping, networking, collaboration and coordination among organizations working with vulnerable families is required if there is to be any improvement. The government is aware that even dedicated Christian projects are not better and they are also doing unstructured and inexperienced work. Though very keen to grow and progress they may not have access to training and resources. Children at Risk Network walks alongside these other groups to help transform the situation by developing their capacity to effectively and efficiently love, care for, protect and disciple children. As a wise person said, a strong desire to make change must be coupled with the capacity to make that change. Many faith organizations are well aware that it is not enough to just have a big heart to serve, but individuals, churches and Christian organizations must also invest time and resources in developing their capacity to do ministry using best practices. We are convinced that the church should be in the forefront in responding to issues affecting their communities. However, Christians are often seen as having a good heart but being oblivious to society’s needs. If the work of the Church is leading the way to lasting change for children and the community at large, it will be respected. The Church was not previously equipped to deal with social issues. Through training and sensitization efforts by SIM Kenya Children at Risk Network, the past perceptions and attitudes of pastors are changing, and they now desire to be equipped to deal with spiritual and professional issues to be included in the common agenda with the government and other agencies to obtain support and reduce any sense of isolation that is usually felt. Healthy relationships and cross-pollination with other SIM Kenya ministries have been borne much fruit and many children have been impacted positively. We are taking advantage of these relationships to enhance our ministry efforts. UNICEF Statistics of Young People connected to Streets and trafficking 100 million globally, 360000+ in Kenya. Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi and Lamu are preferred by vulnerable children as easy life opportunity host hubs, hence young people engage in street connection and young people trafficking is very high.
