SIM Singapore

We have a small team in Singapore, seeking to mobilise the Singaporean church into global mission and equip cross-cultural workers for service in communities where Christ is least known.

Key Ministries

  • Sending workers to Central Asia, the Middle East and other parts of Asia
SIM Singapore is actively sending cross-cultural workers to strategic regions where Christ is least known, including Central Asia, the Middle East, and other parts of Asia.  Many of our workers serve through Business as Mission (BAM) or tentmaking roles, living out the gospel in professional and community settings.
  • Equipping through short-term programmes and practical training
To prepare and support long-term workers, we provide a variety of equipping pathways including short-term mission exposure, medical field training, internships, and mentoring. We also run seminars aimed at helping individuals and churches better understand cross-cultural mission, discern God’s call, and engage meaningfully in His global work.
  • Church mobilisation
This ministry focuses on engaging and mobilising churches in Singapore towards cross-cultural mission. Through teaching, networking, and mentoring, the aim is to foster a missional mindset among congregations and leaders. By building awareness and providing pathways for involvement, this ministry helps churches participate more fully in God’s global mission.

Spiritual Landscape in Singapore

Singapore is a multi-racial, multi-religious society with a strong emphasis on social harmony. Ethnically, around 70 per cent of the population is Chinese, with the remainder comprising Malays, Indians, Caucasians, and immigrants from neighbouring countries. The four major religions are Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Islam.

It has a vibrant and diverse Christian presence and is home to a growing number of mission-minded organisations. There is a strong interest in global mission among the younger generation, and many churches are actively exploring what it means to participate in God’s work beyond their borders.

While many local churches remain focused on inward growth or local outreach — particularly to the migrant worker population — there is a significant rise in direct-sending efforts, especially among large, well-resourced churches. The challenge remains to sustain a long-term vision for mission among all generations, and to deepen cross-cultural readiness and spiritual formation for those being sent.

Christianity is well-established and growing, with many vibrant churches and mission organisations. However, the spiritual environment also includes significant sensitivities around religious engagement, particularly in inter-faith contexts. There is increasing openness among younger generations, yet the church must remain wise and discerning in how it engages the wider community.

Communities Where Christ is Least Known

The Malay Community
The Malay population in Singapore is predominantly Muslim, and reaching out to them with the gospel is highly sensitive and often avoided due to cultural and legal constraints. This group remains one of the most unreached and least engaged communities in the country, requiring prayerful and respectful approaches rooted in long-term relationships and deep cultural understanding.

Please pray

  • For our team to build strong relationships with the local church and to help them see how they can play their part in taking the gospel to communities where Jesus is least known
  • For wise and sensitive outreach to Singaporeans who do not know Jesus
  • That our team would glorify God in all we say and do
