SIM Nigeria staff delivered 500 blankets and sleeping mats in May to Christian villagers fleeing recent violence in the Mangu region in central Nigeria.
With the cooler temperatures accompanying the start of the rainy season, the donations were especially welcomed, yet the needs remain great among the estimated 8,000 or more displaced people. Reports suggest that about 200 people were killed in attacks on 32 villages driven by ongoing violence directed at Christians in rural areas of central and northern Nigeria.
The Christian Crisis Fund of Nigeria is a vehicle SIM uses to seek to meet the physical needs of Christians impacted by the waves of persecution that have now spanned decades in the country. To donate to the Christian Crisis Fund, visit sim.org/donate, select the SIM entity nearest you, then enter 96037 in the appropriate field as the project number.
