SIM Thailand

Our SIM Thailand team is focussed on sharing the gospel with communities who do not know Christ and on seeing people being discipled into biblically-based and community-transforming churches.

Key Ministries

  • Church-planting
SIM Thailand supports church-planters working in pioneer contexts and in partnership with existing local churches to establish and strengthen Christian communities.
  • Sports Friends
This ministry trains and equips local churches to use sport as a tool for disciple-making, building relationships and sharing the gospel through regular activities and coaching.
  • Hope for Life
A community-based outreach ministry, working in partnership with local churches to bring practical support and spiritual hope to individuals and families.
  • University ministry
Engaging with students on and off campus through English classes and friendship-building, creating opportunities to share the gospel with Thailand’s next generation of leaders.

Spiritual Landscape in Thailand

Christianity in Thailand has a history of mission worker presence going back around 200 years, yet less than one per cent of the population identify as Christian today. The nation remains predominantly Buddhist, with religious and cultural life deeply rooted in Buddhist practices and beliefs.

Despite this, the Thai national church has a compelling vision called Love Thailand 1-1-1: to see 1 million Christians, 10,000 churches, and 10,000 Christian leaders raised up in the coming years. While there are many established churches and Christian organisations, the need for gospel outreach and church growth remains significant.

Communities Where Christ is Least Known

While there is a notable Christian presence in Thailand’s northern provinces, especially in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, as well as in Bangkok due to its metropolitan nature, vast areas of the country remain under-evangelised.

The Central, North-Eastern, and Southern regions of Thailand have significantly fewer churches and mission workers. These areas represent key mission fields where Christ is still least known and where new outreach efforts are most needed.

Please pray

  • For a potential new church plant in the south of Chiang Mai and for God to use his workers to be his beacon of light in these areas
  • For adjustment for the growing team in Ayutthaya, with many workers completing language learning and entering into new ministries
  • For God to use his workers, with all their training and skills, for his glory
  • For the SIM sending team who mobilise, train and send out Thai workers. Pray for an increase in Thai mission workers sent out by SIM
