SIM Pakistan

By faith, and looking to Jesus, we strive to see strong churches and disciples actively and sacrificially involved in mission within Pakistan and beyond;  poor and marginalised families better integrated into society, through education and medical assistance; and new workers becoming established in effective ministry in Pakistan.

Spiritual Landscape in Pakistan

Islam is the official religion of Pakistan and more than 94 per cent of the population would say they are Muslim. About 80 per cent of those are Sunni and the rest Shia. Hinduism is the second most followed religion. There is a small Christian community and several churches in the major cities.

Communities Where Christ is Least Known

Hazara

The Hazara are mainly Shia Muslims who have suffered greatly from terrorist attacks. They live in major cities in Pakistan. We continue to pray for opportunities to serve these people.

Drug-dependent youth

Huge numbers of young people, especially boys and men, are addicted to drugs and alcohol. There are very few places for those with little money who want to break free, and even fewer where freedom in Jesus can be found

Saraikis

The traditional homeland of Saraiki speakers is in central Pakistan, where SIM has been working with local churches for decades. The Saraikis are hospitable people, numbering around 20 million. We pray many will come to know the Lord.

Please pray

  • For people from all backgrounds to come to know Jesus Christ, through church ministries and outreach
  • For safety for our teams, and power and wisdom from the Holy Spirit
  • For those suffering through poverty, unemployment, lack of education, poor healthcare, and drug and alcohol dependency
  • For the light of Christ to shine through lives set free from drugs and devoted to him
  • For more mission workers with a heart for discipleship, outreach, missionary kid education, Bible teaching, leadership and/or administration
  • For the ongoing training of Christian leaders
  • For visas for new personnel, visa renewals for existing personnel and good relationships with officials
  • For our SIM team and leaders to walk closely with the Lord and know his peace and joy
  • For integrity and wisdom for government officials, police and security guards, who are in difficult and sometimes dangerous jobs
  • For SIM children’s friendships, education, health, safety and spiritual growth
