SIM Korea

Our Korea office mobilises cross-cultural workers into all regions of the world. It also has a focus on reaching those who don’t know Christ in the Korean peninsula, including indigenous and immigrant peoples.

Spiritual Landscape in Korea

South Korea has a deeply rooted spiritual heritage, historically influenced by Buddhism and shamanism. In recent decades, Christianity has grown significantly, with about 20 per cent of the population now identifying as Christian.

Despite this growth, the Korean Church faces challenges. An ageing church population and declining youth attendance have raised urgent questions about the next generation. Early morning prayer remains a distinctive feature of Korean Christian practice, but revitalising youth engagement is a pressing need.

Communities Where Christ is Least Known

  • Migrant populations
  • The B community
  • Millennial and Gen Z generations

Please pray

  • For revival of the Korean Church for broader engagement in global mission
  • For networking and partnering among local churches and mission agencies in Korea and elsewhere
  • For wisdom and strength to work with other countries, as they desire to send more workers
  • For foreigners in Korea to come to know eternal peace in Christ through his workers and to be witnesses to the gospel
  • For the existing mission training programs (SIM-ACTS English Mission Course, Mission Perspectives and Missionary Training Institutes,) and for new field-based programmes that are being developed for mission candidates
  • For the spiritual and ministerial growth of the home staff as they serve the Lord and his servants
