SIM Ghana

We want to see a a witness to Christ’s love where he is least known in Ghana, disciples of Jesus expressing God’s love in their communities, and Christ-centred churches spreading the gospel in Ghana and beyond.

Key Ministries

  • Outreach and discipleship amongst the Sisaala and Dagomba people, with an increasing focus on ministry to the Fulbe (Fulani) people throughout Ghana.
  • Equipping the church for ministry to children and young people through Sports Friends ministry and training of children’s ministry leaders.
  • Intentionally developing local church leaders to be equipped for missional ministry through ongoing leadership training.
  • Equipping the church for training Christians in missional business and work.
  • Mobilising local churches for mission within Ghana and beyond.
  • Leadership and services.

Spiritual Landscape in Ghana

While the majority of Ghanaians would identify as Christian, there is a significant Muslim majority and it is on that community that much of our work is focussed. They live predominantly in the north of the country. There is significant Christian nominalism and there are churches which teach a very distorted version of the gospel.

Communities Where Christ is Least Known

Sisaala, Dagomba, and Fulbe

For many years SIM Ghana has worked among the Sisaala and Dagomba people groups. Both identify as Muslim but also hold strongly to their traditional roots. SIM works with local churches to share the good news of God in these communities. Together, we are intentional in training, developing, and strengthening local church leadership within these communities. There is an emphasis on children, youth through Sports Friends ministries, and, more recently, working with the church in the care of vulnerable women and widows.

In the last six years, SIM Ghana has been serving among the Fulbe (Fulani) people. Team members are continuing to build friendships with the Fulbe through the hard work of learning their language, customs and culture, and through opportunities in health care, discipleship and children’s literacy.

Please pray

  • For Fulbe families, where God has opened the way to build friendships through caring relationships, health teaching and discipling new believers. Pray for more opportunities for the Fulbe to come to know Jesus
  • For children and young people, that they will come to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour and choose to follow him for a lifetime. Pray for Sports Friends coaches and trained children’s ministry leaders to be faithful in demonstrating God’s love to young people
  • For the ministry to vulnerable women, that the women will be enabled through the training they receive in business and farming. May they hear, understand, and practise the biblical teaching they receive
  • For Christians in business to realise and use the opportunities they have through their work to introduce people to Jesus, encourage people to follow him and impact the world
  • For increasing links with local mission-minded congregations and individuals
