SIM East Africa Sending Office

Our East Africa Sending Office is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and seeks to see more global mission workers from the region by establishing further bases in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.

Key Ministries

We help churches mobilise, equip, train and send East African mission workers to various parts of the world to serve with SIM and its partner mission agencies in gospel ministry. We prioritise sending workers to communities where Christ is least known.

Spiritual Landscape in East Africa

The region is home to a diverse religious landscape, where traditional religions co-exist with Orthodox Christianity, Evangelical Christianity and Islam, creating a nation of varied beliefs living side by side. There is a vibrant evangelical church and it is from those communities we seek to send mission workers.

Communities Where Christ is Least Known

Desert tribes of North Africa and the Middle East

Desert tribes live in the Sahara Desert in North Africa, the Negev, and the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East. These tribes are predominantly nomadic, with a rich cultural context that can be challenging to penetrate. Christ is least known in these communities and there is limited access to the gospel. The EASO strives to reach some of these communities, such as the Fulani.  To share the good news, we need dedicated workers and teams who are willing to share their lives and ensure the good news is shared in all communities.

Please pray

  • For consistent financial support for our workers
  • For safety for our new workers who are facing difficult circumstances engaging in new ministry among the desert tribes
  • For physical healing for our workers who are suffering from health issues
  • For visible fruit in their ministry efforts, with lives transformed by the power of the gospel
  • For quick acquisition of language skills so our workers communicate the gospel effectively; good access to technology and communication tools that facilitate effective ministry and outreach
