Communities where Christ is least known
Migrants and refugees SIM Switzerland has traditionally sent people from Switzerland into the “mission field” overseas, but we are facing a new challenge. Migrants are coming from all over the world, seeking refuge in Switzerland and throughout Europe. Most come from a non-Christian background and have never heard the Gospel.
Some are from a Christian background and have fled because of persecution. European Christians, churches and mission organisations need wisdom to know how to best minister amongst migrants, in collaboration with each other and with the government.
Postmodern generation
Our postmodern generation is growing up without a Christian heritage or biblical teaching. Life has become public through online platforms, and everything is spontaneous and relative. Still, people are looking for values and meaning. Pray for those who have not yet heard of Him, and for Christians to live authentic lives full of passion for Christ. Pray that many would come to know the One who is worthy to be followed.

As we step into 2025, there is a sense of excitement and expectancy among those serving in mission work worldwide. From remote villages to bustling cities, SIM’s Entity Directors are preparing for what lies ahead, trusting God to bring transformation and hope to unreached and underserved communities. To gain insight into their vision and prayers for the year, we spoke with leaders across the globe about their hopes, challenges, and how the global Christian community can pray and support their work.
How the local church in France adapts to secularism and a changing society
France is a country of contrasts: rich in history, arts, and culture. Yet, as French native Vincent, Head of Communications for SIM France/Belgium, explains, it is also a nation of deep spiritual need. Things are starting to change, though. There is a growing openness to faith and a pressing need for mission work.
Sadiku, the boy who ran again
In an outreach clinic on the outskirts of Kapsowar, Kenya, an SIM mission doctor met a young man whose life had been painfully altered by a tragic accident. The boy, Sadiku, was downcast, his once bright school uniform looking worse for wear. He had come to the clinic with his teacher, carrying more than just the weight of his injury.
Finding seeds of hope in dry seasons
Jean and Tony’s journey with SIM began in 1997 after watching a video about ministry work in Paraguay. Inspired by the idea that church planting is simply using the skills God has given to build relationships and share the gospel, they felt called to take part. With Tony’s carpentry skills and Jean’s gift for teaching English, they knew they had something to offer. Arriving in Paraguay on December 31st 1997, they spent the next 25 years immersed in the adventure of church planting and raising their three sons in a rural community.
Seven dental therapists graduate in Liberia, marking a milestone for dental care
Just three hours outside Monrovia, seven dedicated students, beaming with pride, celebrated their graduation alongside their teacher, Dr. Simon Stretton-Downes OBE. They are: Matilda, Archie, Daniel, Charles, Ellen, Rebecca and Vestee. After two years of hard work and collaboration, they received their Dental Therapy Practitioner diplomas from Cuttington University in Liberia. This is a significant milestone, marking a life-changing step for these students as they begin their new careers and a pivotal achievement for the country.

How are shoeboxes bringing joy to children in Namibia?

Refugee mum founds renewed hope through Sydney gardening club
Kay, a refugee living in Australia, once lived a life consumed by depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Medication and hospital visits offered little relief, and her children were taken away by the authorities. Freedom to Flourish, a Sydney ministry of SIM using counselling and creative activities to help refugees heal and find God's love, became her lifeline.
