When He speaks peace: Pray for Sudan

On Saturday April 15, 2023, fighting broke out in Sudan. It made news around the world. My heart sank.
I chatted with Sudanese friends who are originally from Khartoum, Sudan, the day after, at church. We held our heads down for a while, not knowing quite what to say.
“Sudanese are the best people,” she said after a while. “But war has…” I don’t remember how the rest of the sentence went. “War” is such an overpowering word that it swallowed up all the words that came after it. It’s a word that seems to eclipse every other word.
It's a terrible word. It’s a black hole.
War seems to mute all the other conversations.
But there is someone who can silence even war. He can silence all other words; all the waves, the wind, the storms of the world.
You might ask, “Who is this that the winds and waves obey him?”
But when He comes and speaks “peace,” who will say otherwise?
Pray
• That the Prince of peace would speak peace in Sudan.
• For those who have been relocated due to the war.
• For those mourning personal and communal losses.
