SIM Madagascar

By faith, we see SIM workers thriving in their ministries as they cross barriers to proclaim the crucified and risen Christ; equipped church leaders making disciples; and united churches fulfilling Christ’s Great Commission both within and beyond Madagascar.

  • Emergency relief response.

Spiritual Landscape in Madagascar

Around half the population would say they were Christian but Islam is making a big effort to draw people and mosques are being built in all the major population centres. There is still significant animism in rural areas.

Communities Where Christ is Least Known

Islamic people

There are many churches in Madagascar but there are areas where Islam is dominant and other places where Christianity is nominal and without power. Villages are small, scattered and relatively isolated from each other in the rural areas. Many are without Christian witness.

  • For Bible translation into Malagasy dialects
  • For the Lord to call mission workers who can establish a local SIM administration team to serve our mission workers with financial, administrative, personnel services and leadership
  • For pastoral training in Antananarivo, Antserabe, Mandritsara and Mahatsara
  • For more missional healthcare workers for Christian hospitals across the country
  • For local co-workers at the Timothy Centre to continue the activities (theological education, community development, outreach and discipleship) after the current leader leaves
  • For the people of the Comoros to be reached with the good news of Jesus
  • For the raising of mission workers from churches in Madagascar
