נפאל

SIM Nepal exists to glorify God together by partnering with and empowering local churches, organisations, and communities through diverse ministries.

As his followers and life-long students of language and culture, we:

  • Commit to partner with one another, local churches and organisations to promote Nepalis experiencing fullness of life through positive transformation.
  • Seek to humbly represent Him in character, word and action as a multi-ethnic, multi-skilled team, prayerfully serving as He leads in order to glorify Him through (and not limited to): health, education, development, disciple making, training & equipping ministries.
  • Cross barriers to demonstrate his love in communities where He is least known.

Come and Serve

Empowering, Equipping and Networking

Our desire is to equip Nepali Christians to grow in their faith to live and work for the greater benefit of all Nepalis.

Holistic Development and Treatment for HIV and AIDS

We desire to go where Christ is not known and demonstrate his love in practical ways, serving poor and marginalised communities.

Empowering, Equipping and Networking

Nuestro deseo es equipar a los cristianos nepalíes para que crezcan en su fe y tr4abajen para el mayor beneficio de todos los nepalíes.

Holistic Development and Treatment for HIV and AIDS

Ir donde Cristo no es conocido para demostrar Su amor de maneras prácticas. Sirviendo a las comunidades pobres y marginalizadas donde Cristo es menos conocido.

Communities where He is least known

In Nepal, over 80% of people are Hindu, 10% Buddhist, 5% Muslim and 1.4% Christian.

People living in the Terai

The southern plains of Terai are home to more than 50% of the country’s population, with a variety of caste and ethnic backgrounds and languages. Agriculture is the main occupation. Challenges include poverty; ethnic inequalities between gender and caste; disasters (especially earthquakes, floods and fires); health and hygiene issues. Of the nearly one million Muslims living in Nepal, 97% live in the Terai. SIM is reaching out to Nepalis from different backgrounds and ethnicities in the Terai, demonstrating God’s love through a variety of transformative and
empowering ministries.

People living with disabilities

More than half a million people are known to be living with disabilities in Nepal. The actual number is higher, as many are segregated from society due to stigma and shame. The spiritual beliefs of Nepalis have traditionally regarded disability as punishment for bad deeds in a previous life. People with disabilities are often treated as objects of pity; some are neglected
and abandoned.

People with disabilities have more health problems, lower education levels, and higher unemployment. They also experience higher rates of abuse, discrimination and social exclusion.

Through partnerships with other organisations, SIMers are reaching out to those affected by disabilities by providing treatment, rehabilitation, vocational training, advocacy for inclusion and social participation, and psychosocial care and support.

Prayers

1

Pray for work permit/visas; it is not easy to get these documents.

2

Pray for Christians, as persecution has been increasing.

3

Pray for Muslim people living in the Terai to experience fullness of life in Him.

4

Pray for political stability and safety.

5

Pray for our various ministries, that Nepalis will be empowered and experience positive transformation.

Stories from this Country

Nepal earthquake recovery - The long road back to normal

It was a typical Saturday, the day of rest and of worship for all faiths in Nepal. In the village of Kichot, people gathered in Sinkilebenezer Church for their usual worship service. Butel was finishing his sermon when he realized the communion elements were missing.

The Nepal earthquake: One year later

One year after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal, causing massive loss of life, widespread homelessness and billions of dollars in damage, the nation continues to heal and rebuild. In Dhading, one of the districts most devastated by the quake, SIM and partner organization United Mission to Nepal (UMN) carry on with reconstruction work.

20 years later, God finds Pradip in Nepal

When Pradip* was a young boy growing up in Eastern Nepal, he found a Hindi Bible. Even though it was not in his native language, he was able to read through the whole book and see the love of Jesus.
