Mobilising Short-term Theological Educators to North Africa
The local church is intent on strengthening theological training inside this North African country in order to build a strong foundation of theological integrity in pastors and church leaders. SIM has been asked to assist with this process. Over the years they have sent key students abroad for theological education (TE). Most of these students have not returned. In response the church has built a dual approach for TE. The first sends students out for teaching modules in France and Tunisia. The second is The Institute of Christianity (ICA).
While the church strengthens its own ranks, SIM will assist by filling out a list of French-speaking theological educators that can dedicate two weeks per year to teaching in this country. In these early years we desire that outside teachers can build ICA into a master’s level school.
The Church is growing at a rate of 15 percent per year here. The need for strong pastors is essential. Knowing that it is the largest church in North Africa, the church also has a vision for missions. The need for well-trained missionaries is crucial.
Come and Serve
Pray that SIM is able to help the Institute of Christianity (ICA) amass a full list of French-speaking teachers who can teach throughout the year.
Pray that the government permits entry for these teachers for each teaching module.
Pray that more local students become equipped to teach and that outside teachers serve as mentors for them.
