Japón

Less than one percent of Japan’s 125 million people are committed Christians, making this the largest homogenous community without Christ in the world. Asian Access missionaries partner with local leaders in evangelism, disciple-making, leadership development, and the multiplication of Christian communities.

Our team is currently focused in two regions: Kanto (Greater Tokyo area), with nearly 40 million people, and Tohoku (Greater Miyagi/Sendai area), devastated by the triple disaster in 2011, but blessed with unprecedented spiritual breakthroughs as a result.

Communities where He is least known

Children, youth, young adults

Just as the nation of Japan is greying, the church across Japan is largely made up of seniors. The baton needs to be passed to the next generation. Pray for new avenues to reach children, youth, young adults, young families, and professionals to bring the transforming power of the gospel to the next generation.

Most pastors in Japan are over the age of 60. We need senior pastors who will mentor, sponsor, and empower younger leaders to lead the next generation of church goers. We also need creative ministries to the growing group of seniors, which is more than half of the population.

The pain of the 2011 triple disaster in Tohoku (9.0 earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdown) continues. Many are still in temporary housing. We have committed to journey with this community in northern Japan for at least 10 years.

Oracíones

1

Pray for increased contact and deepening relationships with young families. In addition to the whole family ministries, some of our missionaries focus on building healthy marriages, children’s ministries and parenting.

2

Pray for effective church planting and the development of younger leaders.

3

Pray for creative and holistic ministry to seniors.

4

Pray for the disaster area, where individuals, families and communities continue to recover. March 11, 2017 will mark the six-year anniversary. Pray for new life in Christ — healing, restoration, and hope for the future. Pray for churchplanting efforts in Tohoku. Remember Fukushima, where radiation concerns have made recovery slower and more complex.

5

Pray for transferring the holistic principles we’ve learned in Tohoku to the rest of Japan.

6

Pray for fruitful networking and partnering across Japan to aid the church toward a movement to proactively engage the 99 percent who don’t know Christ.
