Multiplying help for the brokenhearted

By Adriana Abendaño Hurtado | Ecuador in South America

I believed my past heart wounds were healed. But when I participated in Healing the Wounds of Trauma event, I was confronted by the Word of God. I realized I still needed healing in some areas of my own life.

I had to tackle some issues and cry out to the Lord. I discovered that my pain is part of the process. Being able to claim God makes one confident in talking with God. Only then could I receive God’s forgiveness and feel his comforting embrace.

This experience impressed upon me the importance of equipping believers with this special tool, Healing the Wounds of Trauma.

Trauma healing in Ecuador

In October 2018, I attended the advanced training for the Healing the Wounds of Trauma programme in Manta, Ecuador. The program provides support, resources and training to equip the Church respond to trauma in communities around the world. The program is based on the solid foundation of God’s Word and the best mental health practices.

Thirty of us came together in Manta from Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. We united around the single purpose of building our capacity to train new trauma healing facilitators. We worshipped our good God together, entrusting our lives to Him so that we can continue as useful instrument is his hands. Only Jesus has the power to heal and restore.

What a great encouragement to be trained alongside people from different nationalities. We shared our experiences gained during the Healing Groups we had conducted in Loja province. We gave and received training in how to run the programme more effectively.

By God’s grace, we now have four Trauma Healing Training Facilitators in Loja city — men and women devoted to the work here, training still others to be part of God’s work in healing the wounds of the heart.

Our challenge now is to practice what we have learned and to encourage others to join this programme with the same passion with which we started as Trainer Apprentices. We will be witnesses of the wonderful work our God in people with wounded hearts. Then, as they experience restoration, they too will be become instruments in helping still others heal.

What a privilege to participate in this wonderful service to people hurting all around us!

Please pray for:

the facilitators in Loja, so that we can continue working with the same passion for those who need healing.

openness in local churches to share the Healing the Wounds of Trauma programme.

funds to provide the Healing Heart Wounds of Trauma for Children programme.
