Far: the tale of a former Buddhist

Thailand has a long history with Buddhism. It is thought to have entered the culture long before there was even such a place as Thailand - during the third century BC, when a famous Indian emperor named Asoka was sending Buddhist missionaries into many parts of Asia. It became the official state religion in the thirteen hundreds during the kingdom of Sukkothai.
It is no surprise to find, then that even today, when religious freedom is officially practiced, to be Thai is to be Buddhist. This is generally borne out by the facts: 94 per cent of the Thai population is Buddhist and Buddhism is still the religion of Thailand's leaders.
But many Thai people, like Tee in this new film from SIM Stories and SIM Thailand - especially the young - feel disconnected and distant from the religion of their grandparents.
The Thai church is energetically working to introduce people like Tee to Jesus. But the Thai church is still relatively tiny and SIM is one of several agencies that wants to walk together with them in this effort.
SIM Thailand is assembling multi-skilled, multi-ethnic teams to plant churches together in parts of Thailand where few or no churches exist.

Murray and his co-worker prayed that Maria would be open to hearing about the gospel on their drive. This led the way for Murray to share about how central Christ is to faith and salvation.
