The internship includes both a theoretical component and practical field work under supervision. As result, principles of good practice (in other words, approaches that have been found most effective and compassionate) will be applied in SIM-related HIV & AIDS ministries.

Thirteen interns will benefit from this customized, self-directed learning program. Each intern will be identified as key person in their location or area of ministry, actively involved in HIV & AIDS ministries and intending to remain so for the foreseeable future.

On completion of the program, which will last two to three weeks at an approved location, the intern will present their personal reflections, a "good practice case study," and a proposal for the application of their findings to their local setting or ministry. They will also develop a plan to train others within their sphere of influence in principles of good practice in HIV & AIDS ministries.
