This project will enable a
Sudanese Christian doctor
to serve in the underserved
region of Doro.

A doctor's healing touch will help restore lives in South Sudan. SIM and the Sudan Interior Church (SIC) are responding to the need for medical care by constructing a Primary Health Care (PHC) Center in Doro. While initially staffed by missionary doctors and nurses, the PHC Center will be turned over to the SIC and fully staffed by Sudanese medical professionals by 2012.

Capacity Building

The Sudanese Christian Doctor Training Fund will build the church's capacity to minister compassionately to the needs of the people of South Sudan. By training Sudanese health professionals to staff the PHC Center, SIM will equip and enable the Sudan Interior Church to have a Christian testimony through compassionate healthcare.

The first Sudanese doctor to staff the Doro Clinic will be trained in an internship at Africa Inland Mission's Kijabe Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. The first SIM candidate for this training is a committed young Sudanese woman, who completed medical school education in Sudan but finds herself marginalized because of her Christian faith. She longs for the sort of internship preparation that Kijabe Hospital offers, prior to returning to Sudan to serve her own people.

Through the generosity of Christians around the world, SIM will pay the internship fees in exchange for this doctor's agreement to serve a minimum of two years in Doro. In partnership with the mission hospital, she will be trained and mentored by Christians, who will prepare her for serving in South Sudan.

Give

You can equip Christian doctors to minister in underserved areas like Southern Sudan. Your gift to this project will enable a doctor who has lived through the tragedy of Sudan's civil war to minister healing to his or her own people. Thank you for your partnership in the rebuilding of South Sudan.
