The city sounds of Abomey, Benin, ring out with calls from vendors in the marketplace, the crumble of dirt under cart wheels, and the sacrifices of animals to the voodoo* gods of the Fon people. In the center of this historical town presides the monument of an ancient king who tried to stop the colonial army from conquering his territory.

As the day winds down, the townspeople, neighbor and stranger alike, tune in to the Fon Christian program produced by the Union des Eglises Evangéliques du Benin (UEEB), the church related to SIM. What a triumph that the gospel penetrates Benin's center of great royal history and traditional religion!
