SIM and its local church partner, the Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (KHC), work together to develop indigenous, reproducing churches amongst the Arsi people at Langano. The community's felt need for their children is an elementary school. KHC and SIM have begun a school, grades 1-4, at Langano for an initial period of three years.

The Langano community places a very high priority on education. In recent months, the community has sought education for females as well as males. This project is in accordance with both SIM International's policy to reach people through education and the terms of SIM Ethiopia's previous government agreement to construct the school. This agreement stated that SIM would be responsible for the initial operation of the school.
