The Tikempt Ishet Health Program in Ethiopia is seeking to meet a great need for medical care in the area. Endless community work remains with regard to prevention and health teaching, particularly in regard to nutrition and agricultural potential. The local government system is not adequate to meet the many needs. We have been assisting with supplies for government health posts. This, along with reaching out to communities with immunizations, gives us an open door to witness.
Tikempt Ishet is approximately 560 km southwest of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is located in a remote area among animistic, settled agriculturalists. A small health station provides the base for immunization, health education, and potential work in community health and prevention. Community health work holds potential, but until now, people have been slow to change.
The health program has provided a great evangelistic tool and patients come for spiritual help and freedom from demons. It has a very important role in the strategy for church planting in Ethiopia, and many churches have been established in the area. The church still needs training for leaders and discipleship.
