Over one million people in Kenya are living with HIV. Many Kenyan churches are already knowledgeable about AIDS, and they recognize the need to be involved. But many struggle to know how to begin a successful ministry.
HOPE for AIDS Kenya is empowering churches to run effective AIDS-related ministries in their communities.
The HOPE for AIDS Kenya Church to Community Mobilization project will:
- Train AIDS educators to offer AIDS awareness and mobilization seminars for churches.
- "Train trainers" to work with churches and create custom skill-building workshops that will prepare them to do AIDS ministry.
- Facilitate networking between churches and organizations with similar ministries.
- Develop an AIDS Resource Center with high-quality printed and audio-visual media.
- Train pastors to minister effectively to people living with HIV through prayer, advocacy and godly counsel.
- Train prayer coordinators to instill a “culture of dependence on God” through prayer in all the churches’ ministries.
Pray
- For the heart of the Church to be touched by all that touches the heart of Christ.
- For the Church in Kenya to be fully mobilized in the fight against AIDS and equipped in every way for effective ministry to those suffering its effects.
- Pray that through HOPE for AIDS – Kenya churches will be strengthened in ministry, individuals will receive hope and compassionate care, communities will be transformed and Jesus Christ will be glorified.
