Escuela de Caballeros Biblicos started in a local church where Percy Valiente was serving as the head of the men’s ministry. He discerned the need to orient, teach, disciple, and challenge men to become true men of God who would live a life of obedience, holiness, and integrity to the glory of God. Percy challenged these men to become soldiers of Christ, or "knights of Christ," by being faithful to the cause of their king, Jesus Christ. Each man was instructed to be faithful to his wife and love her sacrificially. They were to be men of honor and live in holiness. They were taught to put on the armor of God and to pray without ceasing. Since the Spanish word "caballero" means both "gentleman" and "knight," the icon of a medieval knight, which parallels a Christian warrior, was used to attract the men to this ministry. The concept of becoming Warriors for Christ (Caballeros de Cristo) attracts many newcomers and by God’s grace, many men have accepted Christ as their Savior by the power of God’s Word.
This ministry functions within local churches. It serves as a complement to any church’s present men's ministry. The main objective is to train men to fulfill their God-given role and responsibility as spiritual leaders in their homes in a practical way, and to disciple them to become instruments of Christ in society for the cause of the Gospel. Statistics prove that in nearly every church there are more women than men. The School of Biblical Manhood is taking on the challenge to change this. Percy says, "I firmly believe that if we reach the men to become all that God wants them to be, then Christian homes will be formed and strengthened, and the women and children will follow."
In the Christian Missionary Alliance Church where Valiente first began this ministry among professional men, there has been a mini revival taking place. The group has grown from 15 to more than 200 men. Now that he has appointed a director and co-director for the ministry, Valiente has had more time to share the idea and training materials of the School of Biblical Manhood with other churches.
