Mukinge Hospital Continuing Education (87344)
Our vision is to see the staff of Mukinge Hospital in Zambia reflecting the glory of God and bearing witness to Christ's great love and hope as they provide excellent and compassionate care for the sick in Jesus' name.
One way that we realize this vision is to ensure that our staff receives formal training to develop their talents and gifts. In this way we promote their personal wellbeing, we enrich the future ministry of the hospital, and we minister more holistically to each patient under our care.
Men and women not only receive better formal training, but are discipled in Christian living and service. We continually seek ways to integrate our faith into the daily care of our patients. Our continuing education program helps to ensure the very best in staff development both professionally and spiritually.
We praise God that by the end of 2013, we were able to send two enrolled nurses to training to obtain registered nurse status, and one watchman for schooling as a clinical officer. Others continuing studies under the program include the pharmacist, senior nursing officer and a laboratory technologist.
Mukinge Hospital, with a capacity of more than 200 beds, is the only hospital in the large Kasempa district, providing hospital care for this and neighboring Mufumbwe districts. Mukinge Hospital was established in 1952 and is a ministry of SIM's partner church, the Evangelical Church in Zambia (ECZ). Mukinge also runs a Nurses Training School which graduates about 60 nurses yearly.
