Over the past 10 years, the evangelical church in Peru has doubled in size. Because of this explosive growth, there is now a shortage in trained teachers and pastors. Without trained leaders, the church is unable to grow to maturity, and it is more susceptible to wrong beliefs.

Theological education is at the heart of SIM’s vision to partner with and strengthen the church. SIM Peru is involved at all levels of theological education—an Interdenominational Seminary, rural and city Bible institutes, and a Theological Education by Extension (TEE) program.

The team has also established Theological Education Assistance (TEA) Peru, a project which is supporting the vision by providing scholarships to Christian leaders and resources to smaller Bible institutes.

Help Raise Up Christian Leaders

Pastor Eloy Rojas receives a scholarship through this fund so that he can pursue a Master’s Degree. Eloy is committed to theological education. He has been involved with the TEE program for over 20 years, first as a student and now as a member of the national TEE committee of the Peruvian Evangelical Church. In addition to studying theology and pastoring a church in Huancayo, Pastor Eloy is serving on the leadership of the local Bible institute where he is also a teacher.

Eloy is just one of several leaders who have benefited from the TEA Fund. Others are receiving scholarships to be equipped to train pastors in rural areas or to serve as missionaries. Even more Christian leaders are benefiting from the improved libraries in their Bible institutes, thanks to this project.
