Karfluous County (40ms Southwest of Malakal), Southern Sudan — On September 27, a man* dressed in a Sudan People's Liberation Army soldier's uniform walked into a group of children next to a Sudan Interior Church (SIC) building and detonated a grenade, killing himself and six children. The injured were taken to the hospital in Malakal.

According to Compass Direct News, the children were gathered together singing worship songs when the man approached them, lit a match, and then the grenade exploded.

Please pray

  • for the children in the hospital to heal emotionally and physically.
  • for peace in the community where the attack occurred.
  • for safety for the SIM missionaries in the area.
  • for Sudan’s Comprehensive Peace Agreement to be implemented in a timely manner.

*Corrections were made to this report after we received new information from our SIM Sudan director.
