Recently SIM East Asia appointed a new leader to direct SIM's Malaysia office.

The council appointed Rev. Dr. Chen Lip Siong as the General Secretary for SIM Malaysia. SIM Malaysia will be charged with motivating the Malaysian church for world mission as well as sending out Malaysian missionaries with SIM.

The need for a director for SIM Malaysia had been identified since 1990, SIM Deputy International Director for Asia-Pacific, Dr. Andrew Ng, comments. "Not many are called and given the grace to face such a challenge."

Rev. Chen began his work as General Secretary on June 1, 2007. He brings a passion for missions and more than 25 years of church planting and pastoral experience to the role.

Before taking on this new responsibility, Rev. Chen was the Training Director of Haggai Institute (Chinese Division) based in Singapore. He has also served as the Assistant Bishop of Basel Church in Sabah, Malaysia, and as the Head of the Mission Department at Sabah Seminary.

• for God to prepare him for this leadership responsibility.
• for God to use SIM Malaysia to mobilize many to serve God in cross-cultural mission.
