Recently, a family serving in Asia related an amazing story of God’s deliverance and healing. Here they tell the story of how a young woman called Sojun was … set free!
Every time Sojun closed her eyes, three people tormented her. One was an old man, who used a club or
frying pan to hit her hard on her right side. The second was her uncle, who had died in a drowning accident when she was 15. He had always treated Sojun well. Yet, when he appeared, she was very afraid, and when she drank water, she could not keep it down.
The other was Sojun’s cousin, who had been shot and killed. He’d had major surgery, from his stomach to his back. When he appeared, he threatened her, saying, “I will make you have the same surgery as I did.” When these visions appeared, Sojun was frightened, and experienced excruciating pain in the right side of her stomach.
At the beginning of the year, Sojun could not see or eat for two weeks. So she and her family traveled to a hospital in the city where her Christian brother lived. There two believers prayed for her, and her blinded eyes were miraculously healed. But there was still pain in her stomach.
On the second day, when we went to see her, she still could not drink any water, and clutched her stomach in agony. Along with two other Christians, we prayed for Sojun. As we prayed, her eyes started to roll upwards and turn white, and she could not breathe properly. Her mouth opened wide, and she became unconscious. We wanted to continue praying, but her family was so worried, that we had to stop.
Getting worse
Even after many days, the doctors could not find the cause of Sojun’s illness. When her pain got worse, it was decided she needed surgery. Doctors thought that her intestines were twisted where she’d had surgery in the past. One week after the operation, Sojun returned home. But two months later she was back again, and with the same symptoms.
When medical checks revealed no problems, Sojun was told she could leave. But she was sweating, and the pain continued. Because they couldn’t find any cause for her pain, the doctors stopped her IV injections.
We went to pray for Sojun in the hospital room she shared with three other patients. We prayed quietly but firmly that God would cast out the demons, and her husband, Wada, joined in our prayer.
As before, Sojun’s eyes rolled upwards and turned white, and she started to become unconscious. Eventually, she burped loudly three times, and then her body slowly recovered. She’d been set free,
and her stomach no longer hurt! Praise the Lord!
We shared the Gospel with Sojun and Wada, explaining that we all sin and need forgiveness. Eventually they prayed to receive Christ as their Savior. After that, the agonizing pain in Sojun’s stomach left.
And she has never again seen her three tormentors.
Sojun and Wada returned home with great joy and the assurance of salvation. Even so, they were afraid of what their neighbors might think. I asked Wada what he would tell people about Sojun’s recovery. He replied, “I will tell them that God healed her.”
