Saved and Healed: A Story of God's Grace and Power in Nepal

Dila* is a young married woman with no children from a remote village who we reviewed at the government hospital a couple of years ago. She was diagnosed with cancer of the uterus. She had two options for treatment: chemotherapy in Kathmandu, which is very expensive but has a high cure rate, or a hysterectomy, which would remove her chance of ever having a child - a catastrophe for a woman in this traditional Hindu rural society.

Our poor fund and other individuals provided funds for her to be treated in Kathmandu, and I arranged for a Christian group to care for her and her husband while they were there. But sadly, Dila’s cancer did not respond to the chemotherapy. Scans showed further growth in the tumours, and the specialists recommended surgery. Distraught over the news, Dila asked our Christian colleagues to pray with her for healing. When the surgeons began to operate, they found all traces of the tumours were gone!! Dila was overjoyed! She and her husband decided to follow Jesus and joined a local church in Kathmandu.

As of December 2008, there has been no recurrence of the cancer and they are hoping to try for a baby sometime next year. She and her husband are still following Jesus enthusiastically.

Pray

  • for Dila and her husband as they continue to serve God; praise God for the healing that has taken place!
  • that God will continue his good work in Nepal through Julie and others he has called.
