This morning I was sitting with Samara under a tree. We were reading the story about the time when God created the world and, in particular, man and woman. Like many women here, Samara does not read. Yet within 30 minutes she had the story memorized. We started to explore what the story revealed to us about God.
Samara thought for some time and decided that God was strong.
“How strong?”
“All strong because He made everything.”
I asked her what this story might tell us about God and His relationship with man and woman. She was silent for some time and then said, “I think that God loves us very much because He put us in a beautiful garden.”
Not long after, a neighbor passed by and greeted us. In Ghana, greeting is a sit down conversation, not just a quick “Hi, how are you”. When the greetings were over, the woman asked Samara, “What are you doing?”
“I have just learnt a story from God’s Word,” she replied. “Would you like to hear it?”
And so Samara began to tell the woman about the time when God created the world, and man and woman. “And do you know what this tells us about God?” she asked the woman. “It shows us that God is all powerful, all strong. And do you know what it tells us about God’s relationship with man and woman?’ Samara went on…
And that morning a Muslim woman heard perhaps for the first time that God loves her very much. And Samara had her first disciple.
