Religious Freedom Declining in Pakistan

If the act passes, a male who leaves Islam would be punished by death, and a female apostate would be imprisoned for life, or until she repents. Apostates would also be forced to forfeit their property rights and custody of their children. The MMA, a coalition of several Muslim religious parties which has achieved majority status in the National Assembly, is putting pressure on President Musharraf to pass this bill. Meanwhile, the 500-600 Christians living in Charsadda District were given an ultimatum saying they had 10 days to close their churches and flee. Those who remained behind and did not convert to Islam would be punished. While some have fled, others are boldly declaring that they will not leave and will not convert. Security has been tightened, and police are patrolling local churches. Please pray:
