Reaching Northward: Training Asians for Mission
15 August 2006

God is using the SIM Central and Southeast Asia (C-SEA) office to support the labors of our workers spread throughout Asia. But they have not been content to stop there. They are also fueling the flames of mission involvement in their own neighborhoods of South East Asia.

Molly, an SIM worker with C-SEA, has been working alongside Southeast Asian colleagues in a community health outreach. She encouraged her coworkers to reach northward beyond their national border, and so, this summer, four of them ventured north to share the love of Christ with others. Molly summed up the time by saying, "God did [things] above and beyond our imagination."

Reaching Out with Christ's Love

Visiting with a minority people group, to which the small team belonged, they had many opportunities to tell people about Christ's love. In one village, they gave a Bible to a man who was interested in what they were sharing. He promised them that whenever he read it, he would call together all the people who had heard about God so they could listen too.

Nut, one of the women on the trip, shares that "when we came back from East Asia, Molly asked me to pray about if God wants me to be a worker in East Asia. So I am praying about that, and I ask that you please pray for me, that I will know for sure if it is God's will or just my desire only."

Pray

  • for Nut to know if God is calling her to work in East Asia
  • for the C-SEA office team as they support their SIM colleagues and minister to their friends and neighbors
