Radio Hope: Reaching People for Christ
19 February 2009
The following is a story about one of Radio Hope’s listeners, Carmita Lara. It’s been written by Rocío Martínez and translated by Christine Platt.
I visited a dear sister in Christ, Carmita Lara, and this is her testimony of how Radio Hope helped her come to know Christ. Carmita was in grave financial problems, so bad that the bank was threatening to repossess her home. She was listening to the morning prayer program when she rang the station and asked the person praying to visit her. Maria Hererra went to visit her and they started to study the Bible. Carmita invited her friends and soon there was a group of 12 meeting including her husband and mother. They were all praying and asking God for a miracle, that the house would not be lost. However, the worst came to pass. The bank repossessed their home, an act which hit the family hard. Because of this, they thought that God doesn’t do miracles. Sadly, her husband left her, and the other people in the group stopped coming also and she was discouraged. The miracle came about differently than they had expected. In the past, Carmita had been financially secure and thought that she was happy for this reason. She thought that when she had a problem she could approach God and he would fix everything. She’s now convinced that God is working on her character as she was very proud. She can now see the mercy, love and faithfulness of God as she sees the many blessings she receives each day. Carmita and her youngest daughter have continued studying the Bible and they listen to Radio Hope all day long, both of which are helping their spiritual growth. The challenge they now face is to give a good testimony to those they know. Pray
