Pray for People Living with HIV in India
22 April 2008

  Indian woman in prayer

In partnership with the Emmanuel Hospital Association, SIM's HOPE for AIDS is showing Christ's compassion to people living with HIV and AIDS in Dehli. At the SHALOM Care Center, people receive testing, counseling, and medical treatment.

"Chandran" is just one of the many people being cared for at SHALOM. He and his wife "Rejini" have four children. Chandran was admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital as a very sick man, mentally upset, and almost bed-ridden. Unable to walk except with the help of a walker, he was diagnosed as HIV-positive. After being referred to the SHALOM Care Center, he has improved greatly and has returned to his work as a jewler.

There is a lot of anger and bitterness in his home. He is very suspicious of his wife "Rejini" because she dresses up a lot for going out to work but she keeps herself very dirty while at home. His four children are not living good lives. Angry, Chandran scolds and yells, but the family scolds him back.

Pray

  • for peace and reconciliation in the family and a desire to live a good life now.
  • that as the family comes in and out of the SHALOM Care center, their eyes will be opened to see the Way, the Truth and the Life.
  • for the children to have a better future.
  • for health and harmony among the husband and the wife.

Names are changed to protect identity. If you would like to pray for Chandran & Rejini, or for others like them, please contact SHALOMdelhi@eha-health.org for their monthly prayer newsletter.
