Pelted!
by Gregory Cameron, SIM Paraguay
It’s one thing to “serve the Lord with gladness” (Ps 100:2) when life is good, but it is a sign to onlookers when we forbid fear and employ firm faith even in the midst of loss and suffering. For the first time in our stay in Paraguay, we witnessed a hail storm which has all but wiped out the smalls crops in and around Yuty. Te’o and Bartola, who were baptised last month, and their 2 daughters Joanna and Luz, took cover in their wardrobe that night while the hail beat holes in the corrugated roof of their two room home and the flooding water carried off their young tomato plants. Efigenia and Andres, believers, told of their onion and cabbage crops that need replanting. Most have broken roofs and lost poultry with no immediate way to repair damages for shelter before the next rain. All over town we see shredded plants and spoiled hope. People are poor here and really struggle when ends don’t meet, but we ask for your prayers that the believers among them will respond not with fright but with faith. Pray
Thank you for your donations to buy seed, as we already have been able to give these believers and their relatives different seeds. What an answer to asking for opportunities for a seed ministry! If you would like to contribute to the storm clean-up, you can direct your gifts to the nearest SIM office. Designate your gifts to "Camerons Ministry Account/Hail." |
