Mosoj Chaski Radio has been broadcasting Christian programs across Bolivia since January 2002, serving the spiritual and social needs of more than two million Quechua people.

Mosoj Chaski radio and related ministries exist to spread the Gospel, uplift the Quechua community through health and educational programming, and strengthen the Quechua church through Bible teaching. Radio Mosoj Chaski also played an important role in the distribution of the Quechua Pastors’ Book Set.

Very little is available in their own language, making the radio a primary source of information. Radio Mosoj Chaski broadcasts entirely in Quechua, and its supplementary literature ministry produces culturally appropriate booklets and Bible study material. Topics also cover such issues as public health, nutrition, agriculture, human rights, and community development.

These four exciting radio program initiatives of Mosoj Chaski will be produced in 2011:

Project 1 - Strengthening Marriages under Pressure

Objective: Produce 50 radio programs that deal with marriage issues faced due to migration.
Why? Many Quechua marriages are disintegrating because one or both of the spouses have migrated to another part of Bolivia or even to another country. In many areas of Bolivia, migration has reached more than 12% annually. One third of Bolivians now live outside the country. In marriages where just one of the spouses has traveled to obtain work, the divorce rate is estimated at 80%! The emotional havoc for spouses and children is heartrending, and the long-term social impact is devastating.

Project 2 - Teaching our Children about Jesus

Objective: Produce 55 radio programs encouraging Quechua church leaders to hold Sunday School classes for children, and giving advice as to how to teach a Sunday School class.
Why? Very few Quechua churches hold a planned or structured Sunday School for children, and few parents are effectively teaching their children about Jesus for lack of knowledge, training and/or having been discipled themselves.

Project 3 - Words of Love & Wisdom for Children

Objective: Produce 120 (4 series of 30) radio programs for Quechua children, who have migrated, who are working, or who have lost loved ones.
Why? Many of our young listeners are facing hard life realities. 42% of children are living in households with only one parent or no parent present. In the rural indigenous Quechua culture almost all children work. Official child labor in urban settings in Bolivia is 10%, according to statistics from UNICEF. We want these children to learn that God loves and cares for them.

Project 4 - Reflections for Quechua Leaders

Objective: Produce 55 sermons for early Sunday morning broadcast helping and challenging church leaders with their sermon preparation and delivery, their private prayer life, and how they pray publicly.
Why? Approximately 90% of leaders in Quechua churches have no formal Bible training, and often only 4 to 6 years of schooling. On early Sunday morning we will air these “Reflections for Quechua Leaders” as a way of helping church leaders in their efforts to spiritually feed their congregations.

• We praise the Lord for His faithfulness in providing our financial needs for 2010! Please continue to pray for the finances needed to cover the 2011 budget.
• We are receiving reports from our listeners that our reception is improving in many areas. One reason is because the rainy season has arrived, and the other is that the solar cycle is on the climb improving short wave propagation for these coming years.
• The Itinerant Quechua Mobile Bible School has ended the year very encouraged. They held courses in eight communities with an average of 20 students participating in each place. The students are responding well to the course material and are beginning to study the Word of God for themselves.
