The translated scriptures will
allow the Maninka people to
understand the love of God

Good progress is being made in the task of getting the Word of God to the Maninka people. Jerry Page, manager of the Maninka Bible Translation project reports that in January and February, he met with a group of Maninka speakers to check four newly translated books:

  • Deuteronomy
  • Mark
  • Philippians
  • James

Enthralled with the materials they were reading, the two new translators were very interested in the text, even though they were not Christians. One even returned later asking for his own copy so he could read it again.

After those checking sessions, Jerry and one of his Maninka co-workers met with a consultant, who does the final check and approves the translation for publication. He approved the book of Exodus for publication. It will soon be printed and made available to the public.

The process of transferring the approved Maninka Scriptures to the N'Ko alphabet is also moving ahead—the book of Jonah is on the verge of being published.

Please pray

  • thanking God for the progress on this project.
  • for the men who have read the scriptures to come to know their Creator God
  • that the translated scriptures will help many Maninka people understand the love of God in Christ.
