Koyamentu Center is Dedicated
1 May 2009

  Completed building

Located in south-central Chile, the Koyamentu Retreat and Training Center is a well-loved venue for Christian retreats, and conferences. Koyamentu, which means "place of the oaks" in the Mapuche language, was established in 2004.

Koyamentu offers many seminars which are designed to strengthen and equip Christians for ministry—Sunday school teacher training courses, world mission training retreats, events for pastors in world mission, and a rural church leaders Bible institute, which is held 3 days per month.

According to director Tim Sandvig, the greatest fruit of this ministry comes from interdenominational events. They strengthen the church by encouraging healthy "cross-pollination" and an appreciation for the whole Body of Christ. In fact, the original Koyamentu center was appreciated and utilized so much that a second phase of construction was being planned by 2006—to allow for a greater number and variety of groups.

After commencing construction in July 2007, the Koyamentu Training and Retreat Center expansion is now complete. The new building was officially dedicated on March 21, 2009. It has already been used for several training sessions and retreats, and everyone is thrilled with the quality, usefulness, and charm of the building and surrounding gardens. Edgardo Salamanca, the pastor of a major local congregation that has used the new facility ... and has made two more reservations for the next month, wrote last week, “Koyamentu has really become our place to live new experiences in the spiritual life of our church.”

"Koyamentu definitely has something important to offer to the local Body of Christ," Tim Sandvig says. "My wife Sharon and I love this wonderful place and what the Lord has called us to do here. We're excited about the possibilities for the future, both short and long range."

Pray

That this new building will always serve and be a blessing to the Christian community of our region and country—that many will be blessed, refreshed, and challenged to reach out in love and obedience to the Lord of the harvest.

Give

There is still a need of approximately $3000 for project 91251.
