Kaffrine Famine Relief Project Makes its First Food Distribution
28 May 2008
A man sitting on a mat smiles, sacs of rice stacked behind him

Volunteers with the Kaffrine Famine Relief project distributed the first sacs of rice to villagers in the Kaffrine area of Senegal on May 15. So far, five villages have received aid, and as rice becomes available, it will be distributed in two more villages.

Jim and Bev Vaugn, with the International Mission Board, are partnering with SIM in this effort. "We have run into a fair amount of problems getting rice locally, but the Lord is providing," Jim said. At times, there has not been enough rice, and the prices have been higher than expected.

Please pray

  • for there to be sufficient rice available.
  • for funding to buy the rice.
  • that this demonstration of Christ's compassion will help the Wolof people to understand God's love and choose to follow him.
