FilSIM Is The Future
17 November 2008

  FilSIM Logo

SIM Philippines is made up of 11 non-Filipino workers, as well as 17 Filipinos who work in a ministry known as FilSIM—Filipinos Serving Isa al-Masih.

These 17 Filipinos are serving “Jesus the Messiah” in six different communities in the Philippines. All of them have a similar vision to what SIM has always had—reaching out to the ethnic minorities.

The new logo represents several key components of the ministry. The event depicted is the resurrection with the gravestone rolling away to reveal the light of Christ. FilSIM seeks to be light in a dark place. While believers will understand this, those we seek to reach might only see symbols that are important to them. By including only initials in our logo, it gives opportunity to explain FilSIM to any who ask, while maintaining a low profile for those who don’t.

Since the formation of FilSIM in 2005, SIM Philippines has placed 36 short-term missionaries, compared with only three short-term missionaries between 1984 and 2000. FilSIM gives the field a means to involve non-Filipinos in ministry that is Filipino-led. The increase of missionaries obviously adds to our administrative workload, but it also increases the chance of getting missionaries to come back long-term.

We are putting together the Filipino leadership that will help FilSIM continue after current missionaries leave the field. We are very encouraged. The future of SIM Philippines is FilSIM!
