Experience Korea
1 September 2005
Part of the rapid growth of SIM-Korea results from two initiatives in our SIM-Korea office over the past several years. The first is the English Mission Camp held each July. SIM-Korea rents a university or other accommodation and invites potential missionaries who want to upgrade their English skills to attend. About 70 attend these camps and up to a third of them respond to an invitation to be fully involved in missions. The second initiative is the SIM Training Course. This program runs throughout the year and involves 60-70 students who come to the SIM-Korea office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday for three morning and two evening classes. These classes are all conducted in English (for the same reason as above) and provide solid biblical and missiological training. You can imagine the impact of these two programs. SIM-Korea plans to be sending out 50 new missionaries each year starting in 2008. Given the way they are growing, they will likely achieve that goal. GoSIM-Korea needs a native English speaker to coordinate these two programs. Ideally, this person will be able to teach both Bible and English, combined with administrative skills and cross-cultural experience. For more information, please contact your nearest SIM Sending office. |
