Millions involved in child labor and thousands of street children—it's easy to be discouraged by the state of children in India. But the story is not always so bleak. Through songs, games, and Bible stories, children are learning about God's love for them. Read on for stories from two different villages:
Village Kids Club
“Wow, look at all those children following us! Don’t you feel like the Pied Piper?” Whenever we went out to the village to visit Gina, my house helper, we were quickly followed by a mob of children. We soon discovered that they love to sing, hear Bible stories and learn verses. Every Sunday evening we meet with them, and they don’t want to miss a week!
We gather on the muddy brick road in front of Gina’s home. Parents and other adults always come around to listen.
It is a joy to see the children’s exuberance. It is clear in their singing and their eagerness not to miss a word of the story. They push in closer and closer to hear as we teach the Bible lessons. Then all week they bother Gina to help them learn their verses, and they sing the songs while running back and forth through the village.
Pray
Please pray that these children will come to understand how mighty God is and that they will know that He loves them and has a plan for their lives.
King’s Castle
King's Castle was the theme for the week long Vacation Bible School we did with our neighborhood children.
Our lessons asked the questions:
- Where is the King’s Castle?
- Do you know the way?
- Wouldn’t you like to go?
- Who are the King and the Prince?
- How can you become part of the Royal family?
We enjoyed teaching them new songs, making crafts, and telling them Bible stories. It was fun watching them interact with one another. Over 50 children came and excitedly completed the homework we provided, which was designed to promote sharing with their parents.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to share the truth of Jesus with young, soft hearts!
Pray
Please pray for these and other children's outreaches in India:
- for our workers to be strengthened for their task
- for children's hearts to be open to receive the truth of God's love through Christ
- for more workers to tell the children of India about Jesus
