Sports Friends is sending five short-term ministry teams to serve at Camp Langano in Ethiopia between July 3 and August 17. Ethiopian Sports Friends camping leaders will work with these teams to run six weeks of camp with 40 youth attending each week's session.

The youth will have one of the greatest times of their lives—fun, food, sports, games, crafts, swimming, singing, drama, and Bible lessons. Most importantly, the staff will shower the young people with God's love and help them grow in their relationship with God.

Over the last two summers, approximately 100 of the 220 Ethiopian youth attending camp made decisions to follow Jesus. Each of these new believers is being discipled by their sports ministry leader who came to camp with them.

Sports Friend's vision is to further develop the physical facilities and recruit and train a full-time camping staff. Then, they will expand the camping program to minister to 150 youth at a time for up to 35 weeks a year.

Camp Langano will be the first residential, Christian youth camp in Ethiopia, a country with over 75 million people.

Please pray

  • for the ongoing development of the camp—housing, power needs, and planning for the future.
  • for the Holy Spirit to work in the 240 kids who will be coming to camp this summer and in the teams of people from the U.S. who are helping out.
  • for the children to know the love of God during their time at camp and that they would take that love back to their communities.
  • that God would expand the vision of those going to help run the camps and that they would bring that vision back to their churches and communities.
  • for unity between the four ministries at the camp: Sports Friends camping, the medical clinic, the school, and the water project.
