I left for the area where the “Q” live with our producer and one other SIM worker. This SIM worker was leading a ministry training course for Christian highlanders living in that area. The focus was the religion of the “Q.” You need to understand that these highland people have lived down there for many years with absolutely no motivation to reach the “Q.” They do not speak their language; they ignore them, fear them and even expressed that they hate them. They live there because there is money to be made. When they feel they cannot live there any more, they leave. Q's call them 'bus children' and hate them as much as they are hated. This course was given in order to try to change this situation in the churches of the area. 45 were in attendance. We were there to observe and give specific information/teaching about the “Q” for the attendees

While there, our producer and I showed them the radio show and gave witness to the possibility of respecting “Q,” loving “Q,” speaking to “Q,” and even reaching “Q.” They had literally thought it to be impossible. Then God did something terrific. After the first full day of the course, the producer and I went back to our hotel some 60 kms away (We did not want to stay in the small town for fear of being known as a friend of those who act like enemies to the “Q.”) On our way out after supper, the radio show came on. I had a strange, but compelling urge (from God as it turned out) to simply stop the truck, open the windows and crank up the volume. I debated this silently for a few minutes and then feebly mentioned it to our producer. He thought it was a great idea. I immediately stopped the truck. He stepped outside. Then we prayed for God to direct someone to us. Moments later a “Q” warrior walked up out of the darkness from down the road in front of us. Our producer greeted him and introduced him to what we were listening to.

He was intrigued, leaning into the truck though my window to listen. What he heard were three stories in his own language of Jesus working miracles. After it finished, the man proclaimed that he knew this was the truth! We were shocked and asked how he knew. He explained that he had been out on his own for a month looking for two lost cows. At last he had finished his money, his food and his water. An hour earlier he had stopped at a small village to seek food and shelter, but had been uncharacteristically ignored. Feeling desperate, he had decided to set out immediately to walk the 60 kms to his home. He had walked only a couple of kms when he felt that God (Allah) wanted him to turn around and go back to the village and plead with them. He told us that he was praying to God the whole time, trusting Him for provision. He felt God had turned him around and sent him back in the direction of the village and, as it turned out, our truck.

As he walked back to the village, he came upon our truck and the radio show. Hearing the message, he knew immediately that God had arranged this meeting. As a result, he simply and decidedly accepted what he heard then and there as nothing but the truth from God Himself! He listened as our producer explained The Way, then responded, "This is what I believe now!" We were in shock.

When he explained his story to us, we asked where he lived, so that we might take him there. His home was exactly the same place we were going! We welcomed him into the truck. During the next 45 minutes we explained the good news more fully. All three of us exclaimed praise to God. We dropped him off, hardly able to believe what had just happened

He had learned that although his cows were lost, he was the one that was truly lost. God had purposefully led him to the truth and now he is found! We have learned where he lives and will be ready to follow up with him. Please pray for Ab. Pray that his matter of fact belief will be received well as he tells his story in his home clan. His will be a story of how God found him and provided for him in so many ways in the desert night. His story is a marvelous account of revelation from God.

The next morning we shared our story with the course attendees. I will never forget what happened when we told them. When I said that Ab proclaimed that he believed, all gasped and 8 or 10 even bolted backwards in their chairs. This was quite literally stunning news for them. What they had believed for so many years to be impossible, they now knew was possible with God. I believe that God will use Ab's story to invigorate the Christians in this area. Isn't He good?!

God worked by His Spirit at this course. As a result of the solid teaching, and the living testimonies of God's work, 12 of the attendees committed themselves to work with the “Q” people. Five of them already speak the language, so we are really encouraged. The course ended with us washing the feet of these new workers. It was a joy to serve them. Please pray that these 12 follow through on their commitments with love, wisdom, joy and boldness.
