Churches Come Together for "Homes for Hope" Concert
28 August 2009
Update:Those who participated in the Home for Hope Benefit Concert on August 14, 2009, succeeded in raising over $5,900, which was split between SIM's Deborah House in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Lois' Lodge in Charlotte, NC. Members from more than 18 churches participated in the choir alone and we had a special guest appearance from Vince Coakley, of WSOC TV in Charlotte, as well as fantastic performances from our headlining artists—Christa Wells, Verne Phifer, and Nicole Witt. Thank you to everyone who participated in this event and to all of you who prayed and contributed financially. We couldn't have done it without your support! Original post date—August 3, 2009:
SIM USA is hosting a concert to benefit Lois' Lodge in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Deborah House in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2009, at Steele Creek Church in Charlotte. Both Lois’ Lodge and SIM's Deborah House seek to extend grace and show Christ’s love by providing a home and godly counsel for young women who feel like they have nowhere to turn for help. The "Homes for Hope Benefit Concert" is free to attend and will feature headlining music artists Christa Wells, Verne Phifer, and Nicole Witt. Organizers have also mobilized members from more than 10 different churches around the area to form a choir that will perform during the evening. Christabel Corazza, the choir director for the event, is excited about the way this diverse community is gathering together. "One of the coolest things about this is that people from all of these different denominations and worship styles are coming together for this amazing cause," she says. "The Church, God's people, are working together in harmony and in unity. It is so much fun—you don't want to miss it!" Organizers hope to promote awareness and encourage others to get involved with what God is doing through Lois' Lodge, Deborah House, and SIM. Participants will enjoy a night of praise and worship and will be able to give tax-deductible donations. A silent auction will also be held, featuring submissions from local artists, photographers, and businesses. Doors will open at 6:30, so come early to peruse the items for auction. If you are in the Charlotte area on August 14, you won't want to miss this event. Come and join us in celebrating God's mighty deeds!
